The Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, ACP Livai Driu, has urged property owners to enhance their security measures following a recent burglary at an estate in Taveuni.
Mr. Driu reported that K9 officers swiftly tracked and apprehended a suspect after the Taveuni Police Station received a report of the break-in. A team of K9 officers was promptly dispatched to the location.
“Upon arriving at the scene, the K9 team tracked the suspect, leading to an arrest and the recovery of items believed to be stolen,” Mr. Driu stated.
The suspect is currently in custody while investigations are ongoing.
He noted that some incidents showed no signs of forced entry, indicating that doors may have been left unlocked.
“Sometimes we rush and neglect security issues concerning our homes, which can result in burglaries,” he warned.
