Fiji Airways’ rugby legend and double Olympic gold medallist Jerry Tuwai is set to join the Mike Friday Select 7s team for the much-anticipated McDonald’s Fiji Coral Coast 7s tournament, scheduled for January 16-18, 2025, at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka.

Tuwai, celebrated for his exceptional skills and leadership on the field, will be partnering with Welsh 7s star Dr. Luke Treharne, who brings with him extensive experience from the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series. Treharne has not only represented Wales on numerous occasions but has also competed in prestigious events such as the Olympics, Commonwealth Games, and Rugby World Cup Sevens. His ability to create plays and his strategic insight are expected to be vital to the team’s performance.

This tournament will mark a significant moment as Tuwai, Treharne, and other international rugby stars, including South Africa’s Rosco Specman and Ireland’s Harry McNulty, will be uniting for the first time. Under Mike Friday’s coaching, this promising blend of experience and talent is sure to elevate the competitive spirit of the 2025 Coral Coast 7s.

The event is expected to capture the attention of rugby enthusiasts worldwide, featuring a total of 44 teams, comprising 16 men’s teams, 16 youth teams, and 12 women’s teams.
