The Fijian Drua women’s team is gearing up for a promising season in the upcoming Super W competition, with several prominent players expected to join the squad. Former captain of the Fijiana 7s team, Rusila Nagasau, has notably secured her place in the lineup after being spotted in training videos, while fellow former stars Alowesi Nakoci and Raijeli Daveua, who is set to lead the Fijiana 7s at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, are also believed to be part of the Drua women.

These athletes were instrumental in securing Fiji’s historic bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, which adds to the excitement surrounding their return. Additionally, Timaima Ravisa, an experienced player across sevens, union, and league, has rejoined the Drua after a period at Stade Rennais Rugby in France and is expected to make significant contributions following their successful Super W title win in 2022.

Kolora Lomani, another key figure returning to the Drua after playing with the Brumbies women, and several local talents including Alfreda Fisher, Isabella Koi, Carletta Yee, and Josifini Naihamu from Namosi, have also been training with the team.

The official squad announcement is set for January 29, in accordance with competition rules, while their season kicks off against the Waratahs on February 28 in Sydney. They will also host home matches against the Reds and Brumbies at Churchill Park in Lautoka, followed by a bout with the Western Force in Perth.

This mix of seasoned Olympians alongside emerging local talent promises an exhilarating season for the Fijian Drua women, fostering both hope and excitement among fans. As the team prepares to showcase their skills in the Super W competition, they stand poised to make a notable impact and continue promoting women’s rugby in Fiji and the Pacific region.
