The Fijian Drua women’s team is gearing up for the upcoming Super W competition, and several well-known players are expected to be part of their squad. Former captain of the Fijiana 7s team, Rusila Nagasau, has reportedly secured her spot in the lineup, having been spotted in recent training videos shared on social media. These videos, filmed during their workouts at the Sand Dunes in Sigatoka last December, also featured Alowesi Nakoci, another former Fijiana 7s standout.
Notably, Raijeli Daveua, who is set to lead the Fijiana 7s team at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, is believed to have joined the Drua women. All three players were integral to Fiji’s historic bronze medal victory at the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2020.
The Drua team will also see the return of Timaima Ravisa, who has experience in sevens, union, and league. Ravisa trained with the Drua recently and previously played for Stade Rennais Rugby in France after contributing to the team’s Super W title win in their debut season in 2022. Additionally, Kolora Lomani is back with the Drua following her stint with the Brumbies women and represented Fiji at the upcoming Paris Olympics.
Other local talents spotted training with the Drua include Suva’s Alfreda Fisher, Isabella Koi, Carletta Yee, and Namosi’s Josifini Naihamu. The official squad for the Fijian Drua women will be announced on January 29, in line with competition regulations.
This season holds promise for the Drua women, as they combine seasoned Olympians with emerging local talents, setting the stage for a competitive and exciting display in the Super W competition.
