Splashing Water on Cars? Parents Need to Talk!

Law enforcement officials are urging parents to discuss the dangers and legal implications of splashing water on moving vehicles with their children. This request comes following increased reports from concerned motorists since the start of the New Year.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, referenced a video circulating on social media that depicts a bus driver as a recent target of this reckless behavior. He highlighted the potential for such actions to result in serious accidents, leading to injuries or fatalities. “Celebrate responsibly and don’t throw water on moving vehicles,” ACP Driu warned.

He explained that individuals engaging in this behavior could face investigations under the Minor Offences Act of 1971 and the Crimes Act of 2009, with the possibility of charges escalating to murder if severe injuries occur. ACP Driu emphasized that children often do not grasp the seriousness of their actions, placing the responsibility on parents to educate their children. He also encouraged community members to engage with youth about the risks involved in such actions.

In closing, ACP Driu reassured the public that police will maintain vigilance to monitor these incidents, calling for collective efforts to ensure community safety.

This message not only serves to protect the community but also emphasizes the importance of parental guidance in fostering responsible behavior among children. The proactive stance by law enforcement reflects a commitment to a safer environment for all.
