Authorities are urging parents and the community to educate children about the dangers of splashing water on moving vehicles, emphasizing that such actions are illegal. This warning follows a series of reports from concerned motorists after the New Year, including a recent video circulating on social media that shows a bus driver encountering this dangerous behavior.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACPO) Livai Driu expressed the seriousness of the situation, stating, “Such actions can cause accidents, which can lead to injuries or death. Please celebrate responsibly and don’t throw water on moving vehicles.” He noted that individuals participating in this behavior may be subject to investigation under various legal statutes, with potential offenses escalating to more severe charges, including murder, depending on the injuries inflicted.
ACPO Driu highlighted that many children may not fully grasp the consequences of their actions and called on parents to take responsibility in informing them. He also encouraged adults within communities to guide young individuals to desist from such activities.
“Police officers are around and will continue to monitor such incidents. Let’s continue to look out for each other and assist in everyone’s safety,” he added, underscoring the collaborative effort necessary to ensure public safety.
This situation serves as a reminder of the importance of community awareness and communication. By sharing knowledge about safe and responsible behavior, parents and community members can help prevent dangerous incidents, contributing to a safer environment for everyone.
