Fred Chand, promoter of South Pacific Boxing Promotions (SPBP), has called on local businesses to assist in the revival of boxing in the region of Vanua Levu. He emphasized the necessity for frequent boxing programs to support local boxers who have shown potential and interest but may lack the resources to travel for regular bouts.

There has been no boxing program in Vanua Levu since 2015, despite its past strong history of producing top national boxers, such as Joe Keresi and Gyan Kumar, the only amateur boxers in Fiji to have won gold medals at the Oceania Championship.

Apart from boosting local talent, SPBP’s promotional event on Friday, August 10, will feature a 10-round international fight between Winston Hill, Fiji super welterweight champion, and Roy Ser of Vanuatu. Chand encourages any business interested in sponsoring the program to reach out.
