South Pacific Boxing Promoter Fredy Chand Calls Out Dr. Subhash Appana for Misleading Public

South Pacific Boxing promoter Fredy Chand has urged former Boxing Commission of Fiji chairman Dr. Subhash Appana to cease providing misleading information to the public.

This follows Dr. Appana’s statement in The Fiji Times on July 3, where he mentioned, “A title fight has been scheduled for August 10 with two of Fredy’s boxers (Shalvin Chand vs. Ritesh Goundar) fighting for a title that has been stripped from Binnu Singh Jr. without any clear justification.”

Chand responded by stating that Dr. Appana had issued an incorrect statement about his upcoming promotion in Labasa, which could damage his reputation.

“The issue with Subhash Appana giving the wrong statement to The Fiji Times that two Seaside boxers are fighting in a title fight. The whole of Fiji knows that Shelvin Chand is from Seaside, and this guy Krishnil Chand is from Labasa. Shamal Anuj is from Australia and his opponent is from Nadi, so how can two Seaside boxers fight in a title fight?

“But the former chairman speaks out, clearly stating my name here and two Seaside boxers fighting one title fight which is completely misleading, and it’s damaging BCF’s and promoters’ names as well because we work according to our rules,” Chand said.

In his upcoming promotion in Labasa on August 10, Shelvin Chand of Seaside Nadi will fight Labasa’s Krishnil Chand in a title bout.

Australia-based Shamal Anuj will also compete in a title fight, facing Ritesh Gounder of Seaside Nadi.

The Rumble in Labasa promotion will be held at Subrail Park.
