Captain Paul Francis orchestrated the decisive moment in the 17th minute, slicing through the Vanuatu defense and delivering a precise through pass to James Laena, who fired a powerful shot past goalkeeper Joseph Nakou.
This win provides an excellent start for the Solomon Islands’ campaign, while Vanuatu aims to recover in their next match against Tahiti. The Solomon Islands are set to play Fiji on Monday.
