The Solomon Islands will proudly showcase two teams at the upcoming Melanesian Spearhead Group Prime Minister’s Cup, scheduled to take place in Honiara from December 9 to 12. This was announced following the official draw for the tournament, which occurred last weekend at the National Stadium.

Participating countries includes Fiji, Papua New Guinea, New Caledonia, Vanuatu, and the hosts, Solomon Islands. The Solomon Islands will enter their senior national team as well as their Under-23 side into the competition, providing a platform for both experienced players and emerging talent.

Both Solomon Islands teams will compete in Group A, which also includes Papua New Guinea, while Group B consists of New Caledonia, Fiji, and Vanuatu. The tournament will kick off with the Solomon Islands teams facing each other in the opening match at the Lawson Tama Stadium on December 9. On the same day, Vanuatu will compete against New Caledonia to initiate Group B.

In addition to matches at Lawson Tama Stadium, games will also be held at the new National Stadium in Honiara, where the Solomon Islands will aim to defend their title from the previous year.

This tournament not only highlights the competitive spirit of the region but also offers an exciting opportunity for local fans to support their teams. As young players shine alongside seasoned athletes, the Melanesian Spearhead Group Prime Minister’s Cup promises to foster camaraderie and showcase the talent emerging in Melanesian football.
