Solomon Islands kicked off their OFC U-19 Men’s Championship campaign with a determined 1-0 win over Vanuatu in Apia today.

Captain Paul Francis played a pivotal role in the 17th minute, slicing through the Vanuatu defense and delivering a precise through pass to James Laena, who hammered a powerful shot past goalkeeper Joseph Nakou.

This victory provides the Solomon Islands with an ideal start to their campaign, while Vanuatu will attempt to recover on match day two against Tahiti.

Next, Solomon Islands will face Fiji on Monday.
