The Solomon Islands will proudly field two teams in the upcoming Melanesian Spearhead Group Prime Minister’s Cup, taking place in Honiara from December 9 to 12. This decision was officially confirmed during the tournament’s draw held at the National Stadium last weekend.

The tournament will include teams from Papua New Guinea, Fiji, New Caledonia, Vanuatu, in addition to the hosts, Solomon Islands. Representing the Solomon Islands will be their senior national team as well as an Under-23 squad, both competing in Group A alongside Papua New Guinea. Meanwhile, Group B includes New Caledonia, Fiji, and Vanuatu.

The tournament kicks off on December 9 with both Solomon Islands teams facing off in the opening match at Lawson Tama Stadium, while Vanuatu takes on New Caledonia in the initial Group B encounter at the National Stadium.

The Solomon Islands will be defending their title this year, adding an extra layer of excitement and competition to the event. This showcases the country’s commitment and passion for football while providing an opportunity for young players to shine alongside seasoned professionals.
