SODELPA Stands Firm: A New Chapter for Gavoka?

The Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) has reaffirmed its support for Viliame Gavoka as Deputy Prime Minister, despite his recent resignation as party leader. General Secretary Viliame Takayawa stated that the appointment of government roles is the Prime Minister’s responsibility, in line with the Coalition Agreement.

Takayawa highlighted the fairness in allowing Gavoka to retain his position, recalling that he was the party leader during the 2022 national elections. He reaffirmed SODELPA’s promise to maintain a functional coalition, grounded in principles of fairness, transparency, and inclusivity.
