The Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACPO), Livai Driu, has delivered a firm reminder to individuals making threats on social media to remain calm and allow law enforcement to fulfill their responsibilities. He highlighted the heightened emotions surrounding the current situation, urging all parties involved to maintain their composure. “Taking matters into your own hands will only escalate the situation and make things worse,” ACP Driu warned.

He reported that the police have started apprehending suspects, with one bouncer implicated in the matter already in custody. “Last night, we apprehended one individual who is presently in our custody,” he disclosed.

A team from the Totogo Police Station is diligently collecting statements from witnesses and parties involved in Namatakula Village. ACP Driu called on those affected to fully cooperate with the investigation and provide any available evidence. He stressed the significance of patience during this time, asking the public to let the police conduct a thorough inquiry. “We are monitoring social media activity and will remain vigilant to prevent any unlawful actions,” he affirmed.

As the New Year approaches, ACP Driu reassured the community of the police’s commitment to ensuring safety and security for everyone.

This situation serves as a reminder of the importance of dialogue and patience in times of unrest. There is hope that collaborative efforts and thorough investigations will lead to a resolution that fosters understanding and peace within the community.
