Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade Manoa Kamikamica has dismissed allegations circulating on social media regarding political interference in the appointment of Barbara Malimali as Commissioner of FICAC.
In an interview, Kamikamica described the claims as outrageous and disrespectful to the Judicial Services Commission, which operates independently and is led by the Acting Chief Justice.
He expressed disappointment that the commentator is located overseas, stating that had she been in Fiji, legal action would have already been pursued against her. “Her assertions are absurd. It is disheartening that anyone would take her seriously as a credible source. It’s unfortunate she is hiding abroad, otherwise she would face legal consequences,” Kamikamica commented.
