Soap for Change: Teaching Hygiene to Combat Flu Season

A prominent retail product manufacturer has emphasized the importance of consistent personal and general hygiene as flu season approaches. The Punjas Group has contributed hundreds of soap bars to students, promoting the critical role of handwashing in maintaining cleanliness and health.

Priya Kumar, the quality control manager at Ocean Soaps Limited, highlighted the company’s commitment to producing a range of soaps and noted their advanced laboratory and testing facility in Navutu, Lautoka, which meets stringent Australian certification standards. She informed students that the ingredients in the Bodyguard soap brand are particularly effective in enhancing personal hygiene and curbing the spread of germs through proper handwashing.

Kumar stated that handwashing with soap could play a vital role in achieving the United Nations’ Millennium Development Goal of reducing the mortality rate of children under five by two-thirds by 2015. She emphasized that fostering good hygiene habits in children can lead to behavioral changes in their communities, making them advocates for using soap during handwashing.
