American rapper Snoop Dogg has been appointed as an honorary coach for Team USA at the upcoming Winter Olympics to be held in Milan and Cortina, Italy, from February 6 to February 22, 2026. The United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) made the announcement on Thursday, revealing that the 54-year-old will be taking on a volunteer role designed to celebrate and support America’s athletes beyond their competitive events.
Snoop Dogg, who previously served as a special correspondent for NBC’s Olympics coverage during the summer Games in Paris, has established himself as a significant figure in the sporting world. He also performed at the handover ceremony for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics and made a big impact during the event.
Expressing his enthusiasm for this new role, Snoop, whose real name is Calvin Broadus Jr., stated, “Team USA athletes are the real stars – I’m just here to cheer, uplift, and maybe drop a little wisdom from the sidelines.” The USOPC recognizes Snoop Dogg’s unique ability to infuse humor and inspiration into his support, with CEO Sarah Hirshland noting that his enthusiasm for both the Olympic and Paralympic movements is “contagious.”
Snoop Dogg is not just a music icon but also a passionate sports advocate. He founded the Snoop Youth Football League in 2005, aiming to provide inner-city children the opportunity to play American football on a larger stage across the nation. His commitment to using sports as a means of empowerment and support for youth is evident in his longstanding dedication.
This collaboration is expected to bring a fresh perspective and energy to Team USA, highlighting the belief that sport embodies talent, heart, and hard work. Snoop Dogg’s involvement promises to motivate athletes as they pursue their Olympic dreams, encapsulating the spirit of teamwork and sportsmanship.
