A total of 29 players participated in the recently concluded Narere Buses Six Red Snooker tournament at the Merchant Club in Suva. Spanning three days from Friday to Sunday, this event saw competitors representing various regions, including Nausori, Suva, Lautoka, and Sigatoka.

James Naidu, the Vice-President of the Southern Snooker & Billiards Association, expressed satisfaction with the turnout. He noted the enthusiasm displayed by the players, which contributed to the tournament’s success. “The 6-red tournament attracted 29 players in total, making it a successful event where some of the best players were unexpectedly defeated,” Naidu remarked.

Among the promising talents showcased during the tournament were Ropate Morrel and Kushal Krishna, who journeyed from Sigatoka to compete. The competition featured unexpected results, highlighting the unpredictable nature of snooker.

Naidu also thanked Narere Buses Limited for sponsoring the event and the Merchant Club for hosting it. The tournament results included a match where Ropate Morrel faced Mosese Nawaqakula, ending with a score of 1 to 4.

This event reflects a growing enthusiasm for snooker in Fiji, building on the momentum seen in other recent tournaments such as the Nadi Open, where talented players like Nitesh Chand and rising star Manav showcased their abilities. The continued support from sponsors and clubs fosters an encouraging environment for both established players and newcomers, showcasing the potential for snooker to thrive in the region.

As local organizations focus on developing the sport, the success of these tournaments illustrates a promising future for snooker in Fiji, with a vibrant community of players eager to compete and improve.
