Sky Blues Surge as Kumar’s Late Goal Saves Tailevu Naitasiri FC

Tailevu Naitasiri FC achieved a vital 1-0 win against Nasinu on Sunday during round 15 of the Digicel Premier League, moving them up to ninth place in the league standings.

The only goal of the match was netted by Turendran Kumar in the closing moments, which proved crucial for the Sky Blues and dropped Nasinu to the bottom of the table.

Head coach Priyant Mannu expressed his pleasure with the team’s performance, noting the significance of scoring the game-winning goal in the dying minutes. Despite challenging weather conditions, Mannu stressed the importance of this victory and the need to build on this momentum.

Mannu stated, “We had a great match against Nasinu, we needed that crucial goal in that last minute of play to get us out of bottom place. The weather wasn’t in everyone’s favour on Sunday, but we are thankful for the win.”

He also recognized the challenges that lie ahead with their next opponent and highlighted the need for improvement in certain areas.

“This match brings great momentum for the boys; in this one-week break, we will be looking at our mistakes and trying to do better, mainly to work on our finishing. Playing against Navua next will be a strong match, knowing they are the finalists in the Fiji Fact final, they will be a tough opponent.”

Mannu appealed for ongoing support from fans, both for moral encouragement and financial assistance to help the team navigate its operational challenges.

In other matches, Navua and Suva ended in a 2-2 draw, while Nadi and Labasa also finished level at 1-1, both games taking place at Prince Charles Park.
