Veteran fly-half Etonia Rokotuisawa of Naitasiri has emphasized that team bonding and effective communication will be pivotal for the Skipper Select side as they gear up to compete against the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua on February 6 at Churchill Park. With a wealth of provincial experience, Rokotuisawa highlighted the importance of building relationships among team members, who hail from different rugby unions.

“Bonding and relationships within the team are crucial,” said Rokotuisawa. “Since we come from various teams, fostering good connections will enhance our communication on the field, which is vital during the game.”

He expressed gratitude toward the Fiji Rugby Union for the opportunity it has afforded provincial players to participate in the Skipper Select squad and showcase their skills against a premier professional team. “Thank you, FRU, for considering provincial players to form this team and compete against the Drua. This presents a significant challenge for us and allows Drua officials to scout local talent.”

Rokotuisawa believes that this upcoming match will serve as an important stepping stone for the Skipper Cup season and will offer invaluable exposure for emerging local players. He also encouraged rugby enthusiasts to attend the match, urging them to support both the Skipper Select team and the Drua.

“I urge fans to come out in large numbers and back both teams,” he stated. The clash between the Skipper Select and the Drua is anticipated to draw considerable interest as provincial players get a unique chance to gauge their abilities against Super Rugby Pacific-level competition. This match not only signifies an essential opportunity for player development but also acts as a celebration of local rugby talent and community support.
