Six Men Charged in Fiji Meth Trafficking Case Ahead of Court

Six men are facing serious charges for drug trafficking following their alleged involvement in importing methamphetamine into Fiji earlier this year. Authorities have officially charged the individuals with two counts of Unlawful Importation of Illicit Drugs under Section 5(b) of the Illicit Drugs Control Act 2004.

The incidents are reported to have occurred between March and July 2025, involving two separate drug shipments that were intercepted by law enforcement agencies. Tests indicated that both consignments contained methamphetamine, with a total weight exceeding three kilograms.

Among the accused is a customs officer who is facing additional charges for Breach of Secrecy under Section 52(4) of the Fiji Inland Revenue and Customs Service Act 1998. The charges were formalized after discussions with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).

The six men are slated to appear in custody at the Nadi Magistrates Court today, November 10, 2025. Authorities have indicated that investigations are ongoing as they delve deeper into the circumstances surrounding these charges.

This significant crackdown on drug trafficking highlights the ongoing challenges Fiji faces with illicit drug importation. Previous reports have documented similar operations where law enforcement agencies coordinated efforts to address drug smuggling. The dedication displayed by the Fiji Police Force and the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service in combating drug trafficking not only targets illegal activities but also aims to cultivate healthier communities within the nation.

As investigations continue, there is a hopeful outlook that these law enforcement initiatives will reduce drug-related crimes and promote a safer environment for all residents of Fiji. The commitment to addressing this issue demonstrates a proactive stance against the rising concerns related to drug trafficking, indicating a focused effort to preserve public safety and well-being.
