Two Fijian men are among six individuals facing charges in connection with a significant cocaine bust that occurred in Vatia, Tavua, last week. In a case that has drawn attention, the group includes four Ecuadorian nationals and the two local men, who appeared in the Rakiraki Magistrates Court before Magistrate Timoci Qaninauci.

The individuals charged are Alejandro Juvenal Yagual Gonzalez, 47, Luciano Enrique Mero Sanchez, also 47, Jonathan Javier Solorzano Bermello, 30, and Ramon Isidro Vega Parraga, 52. The Fijian men, Bainivalu Suguturaga, a 24-year-old resident of Veisaru, Ba, and 32-year-old Munendra, a carrier operator from Ba, have also been implicated in this serious case.

The four Ecuadorian nationals have been advised to seek legal representation. Bainivalu Suguturaga is being represented by lawyer Filimoni Daveta, while Munendra has engaged Mohammed Yunus as his counsel. All six accused individuals have been remanded in custody and are set to reappear at the Lautoka High Court on February 4.

This case highlights ongoing challenges related to drug trafficking in the region, underlining the authorities’ commitment to combating illegal narcotics. As the situation develops, it serves as a reminder of the significant legal and societal implications surrounding drug-related offenses.
