On Christmas Day, law enforcement officials arrested six individuals for possessing illicit drugs. Among those detained was a 38-year-old unemployed man from Nabua, who had seven sachets of dried leaves believed to be marijuana. A 24-year-old unemployed man from Qauia, Lami, was also arrested with a branch of dried leaves suspected to be marijuana.
Additionally, two men from Vusuya, Nausori, aged 44 and 40, were apprehended in Valelevu with two zip-lock bags containing a crystal-like substance thought to be methamphetamine. A 52-year-old man from Nakelo, Tailevu, was found with 20 sachets of dried leaves believed to be marijuana. Finally, a 50-year-old unemployed man from Tomuka in Lautoka was caught with five sachets of dried leaves, also suspected to be marijuana.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, emphasized that police will continue conducting drug checks, particularly in picnic areas and communities, to maintain public safety. All six individuals are currently in custody and await drug analysis as the investigations proceed.
This incident serves as a reminder of the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat drug-related issues within communities.
