Fiji Bati winger Maika Sivo has signed a three-year contract with the Leeds Rhinos. Sivo, who recently scored two tries in Fiji’s impressive 56-6 victory over the Cook Islands, has now totaled 10 tries in eight international matches.
In a recent interview following his announcement as a Leeds player, Sivo emphasized his strong bond with Leeds coach Brad Arthur. He joins the team after leaving the NRL’s Parramatta Eels, where he was known for his prolific scoring. At Leeds, he will reunite with Arthur, who coached him for a decade before taking the role at Headingley, and he is also joining a growing number of Fijian players in Super League.
Sivo expressed gratitude towards Arthur, stating, “He is a big part of where I am today; I wouldn’t be here without Brad.” He added that when Arthur reached out to him, he and his partner immediately decided they would join the club.
He acknowledged that moving from Parramatta to Leeds will be a new experience for him, stating that he sees it as a positive challenge.
