The Parramatta Eels have officially announced the departure of winger Maika Sivo, who has been released from the final years of his contract.
Sivo, who hails from Fiji, has been the subject of transfer speculation following a challenging 2024 season. Although he continued to showcase his remarkable try-scoring ability, concerns about his defensive performance led to his absence from the first-grade lineup at various points during the year.
The Eels have now confirmed that Sivo has been given the opportunity to pursue his career with a different club, although his destination remains unknown.
In a statement, Parramatta general manager of football Mark O’Neill expressed gratitude to Sivo, his partner Korina, and his family for their contributions to the team. He wished them success in their future endeavors both in rugby league and beyond.
Sivo concludes his time with the Eels having made an impressive impact, scoring 104 tries in 115 appearances. He also represented Fiji in 12 Tests since joining the club in 2019.
With Sivo’s release, he becomes the second notable player to part ways with the Eels this off-season, following Reagan Campbell-Gillard, who recently signed with the Gold Coast Titans.
As the Eels look to strengthen their roster, they have secured the signings of Zac Lomax for 2025, along with backs Joash Papalii and Jordan Samrani. The club is also rumored to be considering new wing options, including Blake Wilson and Josh Addo-Carr.
