Professor Transform Aqorau has been reappointed as Vice-Chancellor of the Solomon Islands National University (SINU) for a second five-year term, with the endorsement of the SINU council on February 10. Aqorau is a qualified lawyer and an esteemed academic, holding a PhD in Law from the University of Wollongong and an Honorary Doctor of Laws from the Australian National University. His previous roles include serving as the Deputy Director of the Forum Fisheries Agency and founding Chief Executive Officer of the Parties to the Nauru Agreement.
During his first term as Vice-Chancellor, Aqorau implemented crucial governance reforms, improved Council performance, and enhanced engagement with donors. He also focused on establishing new international partnerships aimed at supporting infrastructure development and academic programs.
Dr. Morgan Wairiu, Pro-Chancellor of SINU, expressed congratulations to Aqorau on his reappointment. He emphasized that maintaining leadership continuity is essential as the University works to bolster academic quality, governance standards, and research capacity.
