Singh’s Hat-Trick Powers Nasinu to Victory in Fiji Under-16 League

Fiji’s national under-16 football representative, Shania Singh, delivered an impressive performance while playing for Nasinu, scoring three goals to lead her team to a 3-0 victory over Lami in the fifth round of the Digicel Fiji girls under-16 League at the Fiji FA Academy in Vatuwaqa yesterday.

Singh made an impact early in the match, netting the first goal and adding another before halftime, giving Nasinu a solid 2-0 advantage at the break. Despite Lami’s attempts to mount a comeback in the second half, they were unable to stop Singh, who completed her hat-trick to secure the win.

Nasinu’s head coach, Emily Esposito, acknowledged both the strengths and weaknesses displayed during the game. She noted that some players faced challenges due to inadequate preparation caused by missed training sessions.

“The game had its ups and downs, but overall it was a strong competition for the girls,” Esposito stated. “Preparing for the competition was somewhat difficult since a few players missed training, which left us less prepared than we’d hoped. However, we have a solid team, and we knew we would win.”

Esposito also pointed out the need for the team to improve their long kicks and highball techniques in future matches, while praising Lami for their skills yet recognizing areas for enhancement, particularly in ball control.

Singh’s outstanding contribution was pivotal in Nasinu’s victory, and Esposito expressed her appreciation for the support from fans and teammates that bolstered the team’s performance.
