During a recent training session, the extended squad focused on refining their skills, showcasing various set-plays as they prepare for the Singapore Sevens. Coach Kolinisau emphasized the importance of selecting the best twelve players to represent the team in Singapore and highlighted the rigorous training regimen that commenced towards the end of last year, following their participation in the Cape Town leg of the tournament in South Africa.
After a brief Christmas and New Year break, the team returned to training with a renewed focus and commitment. Kolinisau stated, “We’re back this week, a full week, back on Sunday, and we know how important it is to remain consistent.” He underscored the lessons learned from their performances in the first two legs of the series in Dubai and Cape Town, expressing disappointment in the results but recognizing their potential.
Despite the setbacks, Kolinisau noted that their performance placed them in a favorable position, finishing the year tied at the top with South Africa and New Zealand. “I told the boys this is important for the rest of the series, these two legs. Our goal is to try and win the series this year, and that’s why we’ve been working hard after the leg, before Christmas and before New Year’s,” he commented.
Anticipation is building as the Singapore Sevens approaches, scheduled for January 31 to February 1. The team is dedicated to regrouping and applying their hard work in hopes of a successful outcome, aiming for victory in the ongoing series.
