The Kaiviti Silktails have made several significant appointments in their coaching, medical, and executive teams as they prepare for the 2025 rugby league season. These changes signal a renewed commitment to enhancing player development and support, with both new and returning staff members stepping into vital roles.
Former Fiji Residents SPG captain and strength and conditioning coach Rusiate Ratukana returns to the club, taking on the position of assistant coach. Having rejoined the Silktails midway through last season, Ratukana will also contribute to the performance team, utilizing his expertise to ensure players are physically prepared for the challenges ahead. Coach Driscoll has acknowledged Ratukana’s contributions, stating that “Rusi’s presence has been invaluable.”
In addition, the club’s medical and performance departments have seen improvements with the return of Sai Ledua, a former Jacquie Shannon Medallist for staff member of the year in 2022, who had taken time off for Achilles surgery. Ledua brings valuable experience from her work with Fiji Women’s Soccer and Netball to support the Silktails’ medical and performance operations.
Other noteworthy appointments include Vilimaina Tuivaga as head physiotherapist, while Sio Dickinson transitions into a consultancy role. Dr. Atul Anwas Lal continues in his capacity as club doctor.
On the management side, Mereoni Tuinanuya remains the general manager and Team Pastor Kemueli Salu has been designated as the welfare and community engagement manager. Erami Vuleka will oversee facilities and maintenance, while Driscoll manages daily operations and interacts with sponsors and stakeholders.
Silktails chairman Petero Civoniceva underscored the club’s dedication to fostering homegrown talent and providing steadfast support for players and staff. “We are thrilled to have people who truly understand the Silktails’ values and goals. With the new staff and the support of our Bulldogs partnership, we are confident in our preparations for the upcoming season,” Civoniceva stated.
In summary, the Kaiviti Silktails are building a robust support system aimed at enhancing player performance and development as they look forward to a promising 2025 season. This proactive approach, combined with experienced personnel who align with the club’s ethos, sets a hopeful tone for the team’s future.
