A number of players from the Kaiviti Silktails are focusing on their futures as the current Jersey Flegg Cup season may be their last due to age restrictions limiting participation to Under-21 players. Lock Meli Wara shared his aspirations of progressing in his rugby career, stating, “I’d like to compete in the next competition, but I need to work my way up from here. In order to get there, I need to lay the groundwork to reach that level. My goal is to play in the NRL, especially in the NSW Cup.” Although Wara acknowledges he hasn’t fully arrived at his goal yet, his determination remains strong.
The Silktails are currently positioned eighth in the competition, having faced two losses but bounced back with two consecutive home wins. Their next challenge will be a match against the Warriors at 12 PM tomorrow at Churchill Park in Lautoka, which will be broadcast live on FBC Sports.
Reflecting on the team atmosphere, the players are motivated by the progression and experience they’re gaining. The Silktails’ journey mirrors that of their prior seasons, where growth and resilience have consistently been themes. Coach Timoce Duve’s commitment to improvement is evident as the young players continue to develop skills alongside their competitive spirit.
There’s a sense of optimism surrounding the Silktails as they aim to achieve their objectives in the remaining weeks of the season while fostering a promising environment for younger players. The community’s support is likely to bolster their performance as they work towards a successful conclusion to their campaign.
