Most drug raids conducted by the authorities have been made possible due to information provided by the public. Home Affairs Minister Pio Tikoduadua has urged the public to report any information they have about potential drug activities in their neighborhoods.
Speaking on The Lens@177 this week, Mr. Tikoduadua acknowledged the fear that often prevents people from sharing information with authorities. “In our communities, there’s too much talk—this person is dealing, that house is using, that house is pushing—too much talk,” he said. “Those who are genuinely concerned about the safety of their children and their community should come forward.”
He assured that the government would protect those who provide information. “We understand people are scared, but we aim to create an environment where people will feel protected,” he added.
Mr. Tikoduadua emphasized that this cooperation would help stop drug dealers from operating freely in the community. “Information from the public has led to numerous raids, the confiscation of various quantities of drugs, and multiple arrests. This crucial information comes from the people, and we encourage them to continue coming forward.”
