The body of a five-year-old child, swept away near the Biausavu Waterfall in Sigatoka, has been recovered. The tragic discovery was made alongside the river, and the Sigatoka Forensics and Criminal Investigations Department has since transported the body to the mortuary at Sigatoka Hospital. Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.

In a separate incident, search and rescue efforts are currently underway for a 50-year-old man who went missing in the Tulahewa River in Sigatoka. The man was reportedly swept away by the strong current while attempting to swim back across the river after visiting his farm. Although search operations commenced shortly after he went missing, they were suspended last night without any positive findings.

Community members are hopeful that search efforts will lead to a positive outcome for the missing man, while the tragic loss of the young child serves as a somber reminder of the dangers posed by natural water bodies. The continuation of investigations demonstrates a commitment to understanding and addressing these incidents to enhance safety in the area.
