Waisake Ravuiwasa’s debut for the Shop N Save Police rugby team at the Vodafone Ratu Sukuna Bowl tournament was a moment of great significance for him, particularly because he had the opportunity to play alongside his older brother, Inoke Ravuiwasa. Together, they achieved a thrilling victory against the Army team, winning 20-19 at the HFC Bank Stadium last Saturday.
The Ravuiwasa brothers come from Tavuki, Taveuni, with strong maternal roots in Susui, Vanuabalavu, Lau. Their victory held a deeper emotional context as they dedicated it to their late father, Julian Ravuiwasa, a former police officer at the Taveuni Police station, who passed away in June.
Expressing his gratitude, Waisake shared, “I thank God that we’re able to play together; I’ve been trying for a very long time. My late dad always told me not to give up on it. I only wished he was here to see us.”
Inoke, who has been a part of the Blues team for the past nine years, also celebrated the win with his brother, marking a significant milestone in their rugby journey.
This heartfelt story reflects the power of family bonds and the dedication to honoring loved ones. It serves as inspiration not only to the Ravuiwasas but also to others who pursue their dreams, emphasizing the importance of perseverance and cherishing family connections.
In summary, Waisake and Inoke’s successful debut at the tournament symbolizes resilience, familial love, and the fulfillment of dreams against the backdrop of loss, promoting a message of hope and determination.
