A 17-year-old boy is one of 26 individuals charged last month by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions in connection with serious sexual offences. He faces charges of raping and indecently assaulting a 15-year-old girl.
In total, the 26 individuals have been charged with 70 counts of various sexual offences, which include 46 counts of rape, three counts of attempted rape, two counts of abduction with intent to commit rape, five counts of indecent assault, and 14 counts of sexual assault.
Among the 24 victims involved, 15 were under the age of 18, with two male victims and 22 female victims. There were 12 cases in which the victims and the accused were related.
A 76-year-old man was charged with one count of raping his eight-year-old granddaughter. Similarly, a 56-year-old man faced three counts of raping his 16-year-old granddaughter. In another case, a 40-year-old man was charged with nine counts of raping his eight-year-old daughter.
In a separate incident, a 72-year-old man faced charges of raping his 17-year-old stepdaughter, but this case was discontinued following the accused’s death. A 35-year-old man is charged with one count of rape and five counts of sexual assault against his 14-year-old stepdaughter, while a 32-year-old man faced two counts of raping his 12-year-old stepdaughter.
Additionally, a 56-year-old man was charged with two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault of his 13-year-old niece. In a separate incident, a 21-year-old man was charged with raping his 25-year-old niece, and a 40-year-old man faced multiple charges involving his 17-year-old niece.
A 37-year-old man was charged with three counts of rape and two counts of sexual assault of his 16-year-old niece. A 31-year-old man was charged with the rape of his 29-year-old wife, but this case was also discontinued after the complainant admitted to making a false report.
An 18-year-old man was charged with raping his 11-year-old cousin. In a separate incident, a 68-year-old man faced charges of two counts of rape and one count of attempted rape of a 25-year-old woman, although this case was discontinued due to the complainant being uncontactable.
Two 18-year-old men and a 20-year-old man were charged with multiple counts of rape and sexual assault against a 16-year-old girl. A 22-year-old man was charged with two counts of abduction with intent to commit rape involving a 16-year-old girl, who was in a relationship with him at the time.
Additionally, a 23-year-old man was charged with raping his 20-year-old girlfriend. A 19-year-old man also faced charges of rape and attempted rape of a 16-year-old girl, but this case was discontinued after the complainant could not be reached.
A 53-year-old man faced multiple charges, including three counts of rape and one count of attempted rape involving two male victims, aged 25 and 21. A 32-year-old man was charged with raping a 20-year-old woman, while a 29-year-old man faced charges of raping a 16-year-old girl. However, both latter cases were discontinued after the victims admitted to making false claims.
In total, eight cases were discontinued due to reasons such as insufficient evidence, difficulty in contacting or locating victims, or false complaints.
