Shocking Surge: 10 Individuals Charged with Over 25 Sexual Offences

In September, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) reported that 10 individuals were charged with over 25 sexual offences. The ODPP’s monthly update on serious sexual offences revealed that the cases involved 10 victims, comprising two males and eight females.

Among the accused is a 20-year-old man charged with raping his 10-year-old male cousin. Another incident involves a 25-year-old man who faces charges of raping and sexually assaulting a 14-year-old boy. The ODPP noted that there were six cases where the victims and offenders were related.

In a notable case, a 45-year-old man was charged with raping his 16-year-old stepdaughter, although the case was discontinued due to a lack of sufficient evidence. Additionally, a 28-year-old man has been charged with raping his five-year-old niece, and a 29-year-old man is facing charges for two counts of rape and one count of sexually assaulting his 15-year-old niece.

Furthermore, a 20-year-old man was charged with four counts of rape, one count of attempted rape, two counts of indecent assault, and one count of sexual assault against his 17-year-old cousin. In another case, a 29-year-old man was charged with the attempted rape and sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl from his village, while a 20-year-old man has been charged with raping an 11-year-old girl from his village.

Two cases were discontinued after being filed as Nolle Prosequi due to insufficient evidence and the inability to contact or locate the victims.
