A 28-year-old man has been accused of raping his five-year-old niece, while a 29-year-old man faces charges related to the rape and sexual assault of his 15-year-old niece. These cases were reported in the Rape and Sexual Offences Statistics released by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for September.
According to the ODPP, there were 10 individuals charged with a total of 25 counts of sexual offences during the month. The offences included 16 charges of rape, two for attempted rape, two for indecent assault, and five for sexual assault.
Out of the 10 victims identified, eight were under the age of 18, comprising two male victims and eight female victims. Additionally, a 46-year-old man has been charged with raping his 41-year-old wife.
One noteworthy case involved a 20-year-old man who has been charged with four counts of rape, one count of attempted rape, two counts of indecent assault, and one count of sexual assault against his 17-year-old cousin. In another incident, a 29-year-old man was charged with attempting to rape and sexually assault a 14-year-old girl from his community. Furthermore, a 20-year-old man has been charged with raping an 11-year-old girl from his village.
Two cases were dropped after Nolle Prosequi were filed, citing insufficient evidence and the inability to contact or locate the victim.
