The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has reported that more than 25 sexual offences were charged against 10 individuals in September. According to the ODPP’s monthly update on serious sexual offences, a total of 25 offences involved 10 victims, comprised of two males and eight females.
Among the accused, a 20-year-old man faces charges for allegedly raping his 10-year-old male cousin. In a separate incident, a 25-year-old man has been charged with both rape and sexual assault of a 14-year-old boy. The ODPP noted that there were six cases where the victims and defendants were related.
In one instance, a 45-year-old man was charged with raping his 16-year-old stepdaughter, but the prosecution was discontinued due to insufficient evidence. Another case involved a 28-year-old man charged with raping his five-year-old niece, and a 29-year-old man faces two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault regarding his 15-year-old niece.
One man, aged 20, has been charged with multiple offences, including four counts of rape, one count of attempted rape, two counts of indecent assault, and one count of sexual assault against his 17-year-old cousin. Additionally, a 29-year-old man was charged with attempted rape and sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl from his village, while a 20-year-old man faces charges for raping an 11-year-old girl from the same village.
Two cases were dropped after the charges were discontinued due to a lack of evidence and difficulties in contacting or locating the victims.
