Three individuals, aged 15, 17, and 18, including Devekuta Ledua Vererua, have been remanded in custody by the Magistrates Court in Suva due to allegations of raping a 13-year-old boy in Lami last month. The accused appeared before Magistrate Pulekeria Low for the proceedings.
Each of the defendants has been charged with one count of rape. It is alleged that the incident occurred on August 30, 2024, at the home of the victim’s relative.
In a separate case, the 17-year-old is also facing charges of sexual harassment for allegedly harassing an 18-year-old woman, with the incident reportedly taking place last month. Additionally, it was disclosed in court that Vererua had been charged with a count of rape back in 2021.
The cases have been moved to the High Court, where they are scheduled for first mention on August 27.
