Five police officers were charged last month with various offenses, including assault resulting in actual bodily harm, serious assaults, and unlawful possession of illegal drugs. All of the officers have been placed on interdiction while their court cases are pending. Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew emphasized the organization’s dedication to fairness and transparency, ensuring that officers are held accountable for their actions when they violate the laws they are tasked with enforcing. He noted that the rise in reported incidents is also linked to improved public confidence in reporting, which has been fostered by increased community awareness and outreach initiatives.
