Shiv Raj Associates, a significant player in Fiji’s agricultural sector and part of the JS Raj Group, operates the largest cane harvesting and transportation service in the country. The organization plays a crucial role in supporting thousands of farmers and their families in the Ra region.
During the opening of the Nalawa complex, Assistant Minister for Justice Ratu Josaia Niudamu praised the company’s impressive growth trajectory, tracing its origins back to a modest shop in Namuimada in 1952. Over the years, Shiv Raj Associates has transformed into ShopPlus supermarkets and community markets, with sugar production remaining at its core.
“The company operates the largest cane harvesting and transportation operation in Fiji, making a significant contribution to the sugar cane industry, which is essential for the livelihoods of many families,” stated Ratu Josaia. He emphasized the importance of community support, asserting that success is unmeaningful without the upliftment of local communities.
Despite facing numerous challenges within Fiji’s sugar industry, Ratu Josaia highlighted how Shiv Raj Associates exemplifies the impact that private initiatives can have in sustaining rural economies and aiding farming families.
