Courts CyberCity officially launched SolarCity, a new brand focused on solar energy solutions, at its Nakasi store yesterday. The event featured live demonstrations and product showcases, allowing attendees to interact with a variety of solar technologies. These products include solar home systems such as the SUNKING HOME 200X and the HOME 500X, which comes equipped with a 32-inch TV and antenna, alongside a range of other solar-powered devices including fans, portable MP3 players, and garden lamps.
In addition to appliances, SolarCity offers crucial power infrastructure components like solar panels, inverters, gel batteries, and cables, intended to provide reliable energy access in areas with limited or no electricity supply. The interactive event not only allowed attendees to engage with the products but also offered them a chance to purchase these items at a discounted rate.
A spokesperson from Courts CyberCity indicated that SolarCity’s launch aligns with broader national objectives to promote renewable energy adoption and ensure environmental sustainability within Fiji. This introduction is particularly significant as there is a growing demand for sustainable energy solutions across the nation, especially for off-grid communities which often struggle with consistent electricity access.
Notably, this initiative aligns with findings from a recent study conducted in partnership with the Australian Government’s Market Development Facility (MDF), which revealed a strong interest among Fijians in solar energy solutions. The study found that nearly 70% of households expressed willingness to invest in solar systems, indicating a positive societal shift towards renewable energy.
The launch of SolarCity serves as a beacon of hope for Fiji’s energy future, showcasing actionable steps towards meeting the country’s renewable energy targets while addressing pressing energy needs. Through initiatives like this, Fiji is on a promising path toward a more sustainable and energy-efficient future.
