Sharon Osbourne has opened up about her heartfelt final hours with her late husband, Ozzy Osbourne, the legendary Black Sabbath rocker who passed away at the age of 76 on July 22. Ozzy’s death followed a series of health challenges, including a heart attack and complications from Parkinson’s disease. In her first interview since Ozzy’s passing, Sharon shared poignant details about their last moments together, reflecting on their deep bond and the emotions that engulfed her during that difficult time.
Recalling the night before his death, Sharon described Ozzy’s restless movements, stating, “He was up and down to the bathroom all night.” At around 4:30 a.m., he asked her to wake up, to which she replied, “I’m already bloody awake, you’ve woken me up.” Their final exchange was tender, with Ozzy saying, “Kiss me. Hug me tight.” The following morning unfolded normally until tragedy struck twenty minutes after Ozzy went downstairs for his workout. When the scream reverberated through their home, Sharon knew instantly that something was terribly wrong.
Sharon rushed downstairs to find paramedics attempting to resuscitate Ozzy. Overwhelmed with emotion, she sensed his departure, insisting, “Don’t – just leave him. Leave him. You can’t. He’s gone.” Ultimately, although efforts were made to save him, Ozzy was pronounced dead after being transported by helicopter to the hospital.
Married for over forty years, Sharon and Ozzy shared a life filled with love, challenges, and raising their three children—Aimee, Kelly, and Jack—together. Despite the outpouring of love from friends and fans, Sharon admitted she felt consumed by fear and regret after his death. “If only I’d have told him I loved him more,” she expressed, reflecting on her feelings of helplessness.
Ozzy’s official cause of death was listed as cardiac arrest due to acute myocardial infarction, with additional contributing factors including coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s disease. In the weeks leading up to his death, Ozzy had confided in Sharon about feeling “ready” for death, sharing surreal dreams of unfamiliar people, which he described as haunting yet significant.
Just two weeks prior to his passing, Ozzy performed at a farewell concert in England’s Villa Park, an event that attracted an audience of 40,000 and featured performances by several major acts, including Metallica and Guns N’ Roses. Despite being gravely ill and receiving warnings from his doctors that performing could be fatal, Ozzy was determined to finish the show, a testament to his enduring spirit. Sharon remarked on the joy this performance brought him, noting it transformed his demeanor in the days following, filling him with happiness as he reveled in the admiration of his fans.
Reflecting on Ozzy’s legacy, Sharon shared that he was astonished by the depth of love people had for him, stating, “He never knew so many people liked him.” This unexpected validation brought him immense joy in his final days, further highlighting the profound connection he established with his audience throughout his illustrious career.
