Adi Cakobau School (ACS) and Suva Grammar School (SGS) both gained the Under-19 girls’ title at the Vodafone Fiji Secondary Schools Basketball Championship held in Lautoka last night.
The final match was interrupted for 20 minutes in the last quarter due to heavy rain, which made the court slippery and unsafe to play on. At the time of the delay, ACS was ahead with a score of 21-18 and only seven minutes left in the game.
Considering the players’ safety, the organizers decided to declare both teams as joint winners.
In the boys’ category, Marist Brothers High School secured the Under-19 boys’ title with a thrilling 28-24 victory over Yat Sen Secondary School, bringing the trophy back to Kaunikuila.
