The Ministry of Education in Fiji has launched a significant initiative to interview Year 13 students aspiring to enter teacher training programs. In collaboration with Teacher Training Institutions (TTIs), the Fiji Teacher’s Registration Authority (FTRA), the Higher Education Commission Fiji (HECF), and the Tertiary Scholarships and Loans Services (TSLS), this program aims to select qualified individuals who are passionate about teaching. Education Minister Aseri Radrodro emphasized the importance of this initiative, especially given the rising demand for skilled educators in areas such as Primary Education, Special and Inclusive Education, and critical subjects like Mathematics and Science.
The interviews commenced in the Northern Division, notably at Labasa College, where a substantial number of enthusiastic students participated, illustrating their eagerness to embark on a rewarding career in education. The Ministry has encouraged students in other divisions to prepare thoroughly for their upcoming interviews, which are key to a fruitful future in teaching.
