Weather Alert

Grab your umbrellas and hold onto your hats, folks! The weather is about to take you on a wild ride as we dive into a forecast that’s as unpredictable as your in-laws’ holiday plans. As of 7:30 PM on this fine Monday, the 23rd of June 2025, our friends at the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi are buzzing with news.

Warning bells are ringing for those on the southeastern coasts of Viti Levu, from Sigatoka to Rakiraki, as a strong wind warning continues to be in effect. So if you were planning a day of sunny surfing or a casual seaside stroll, think again! Beqa, Vatulele, Kadavu, Yasawa, parts of Vanua Levu, and a few smaller islands are also in the same breezy boat—but let’s be real, nobody likes a windy beach day!

Now, about that rain: the heavy downpour warning is pretty serious. The interior and southeastern parts of Viti Levu are bracing for cloud cover thicker than your Auntie’s famous puddings, with showers turning into a full-blown rain dance. Thunderstorms are expected to join the party later tonight, so you’d best find a cozy spot indoors unless you enjoy getting drenched.

Looking ahead to tomorrow, those southeast winds are stepping up their game, ranging from 30 to a gusty 55 km/hr! That’s enough to send a flock of pigeons scrambling for cover. And if you’re out on the water, let’s just say it’s going to be a bit choppy—think of it as nature’s version of a roller coaster!

For the rest of Fiji, the clouds are gathering, and showers will be sneaking in. Isolated heavy falls and the occasional thunderstorm are on tap, so consider bringing a raincoat when you step outside. The seas will be rougher than your old uncle’s stories, so choose your swimming times wisely.

Looking into Wednesday, you can expect more of the same—cloudy periods with intermittent showers. However, there’s a glimmer of sunshine just for those lucky enough to venture further afield, where things will be mainly fine. So for all of you night owls, prepare for a cool evening.

In short, prepare for a wet and windy few days ahead, and don’t forget your brolly! Stay safe out there, Fiji!
