The Ministry of Education has announced the closure of all schools for tomorrow. This decision follows assessments conducted at the district level to evaluate local conditions and assess potential risks posed to students, teachers, and the entire school community.

In a media advisory, the Ministry emphasized the need for all Heads of Schools and teachers to maintain communication with their Management Committees and District Education Offices for updates and guidance during this time. Furthermore, school leaders have been reminded to ensure that school properties are well secured as unsettled weather conditions persist.

Parents and guardians have been strongly advised to keep children at home and to avoid unnecessary travel. The advisory highlights the dangers of attempting to cross flooded roads, creeks, or rivers and urges the public to stay away from flood-affected zones.

The Ministry’s Disaster Risk Reduction Unit is actively monitoring the situation and will provide timely updates as it evolves. The Education Minister reiterated that the safety and well-being of children and school communities is the Ministry’s highest priority and assured that more announcements will follow regarding the potential reopening of schools when conditions allow.

During this critical period, parents, teachers, and students are encouraged to stay informed by following official weather updates and safety advisories. This proactive approach aims to ensure the well-being of the entire community as they navigate uncertain weather challenges.
