Weather Update
Brought to you by the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi
Well, folks, it seems like Fiji has invited a couple of uninvited guests – a couple of troughs of low pressure are paying us a visit from the northwest and the east! They’re bringing along some clouds and showers, likely overstaying their welcome for a few days.
Here’s what’s on the forecast menu until the clock strikes midnight tomorrow:
Yasawa, Kadavu, and the nearby island crew can expect occasional showers and maybe even some infamous isolated thunderstorms. So, if you have plans, don’t forget your umbrella – that is, unless you love getting wet!
As for the eastern half of Viti Levu (including the fabulous regions of Serua/Namosi, Navua to Nausori, Tailevu, Naitasiri, and Ra) along with Cakaudrove and southern Bua, cloudy periods with some sprinkles are in the cards. And just so it’s exciting, isolated heavy falls are making a special appearance! Otherwise, if you find yourself elsewhere, enjoy those partly cloudy skies while dodging the occasional afternoon or evening shower.
Now, those of us on Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, brace yourselves: afternoon thunderstorms are coming, and they’re not bringing good news for the low-lying areas – flash flooding might crash the party!
Let’s dive into the special regional forecasts, shall we?
For Navua/Suva/Nausori: Cloudy with showers – and the afternoon might get a little electrifying with thunderstorms!
Nadi/Lautoka/Ba: Expect some friendly clouds, with afternoon showers and possibly a thunderstorm or two to spice things up!
Sigatoka/Coral Coast: Partly cloudy with a chance for some afternoon excitement in the form of thunderstorms. Best keep those raincoats handy!
Tavua/Rakiraki: A mix of cloudiness and showers over Rakiraki, while the rest of you can enjoy some partly cloudy skies that might not stay that way for long.
Yasawa/Mamanuca: Occasional showers and those lovely isolated thunderstorms are expected. It’s like an unpredictable guest at a party!
Labasa: Your mix of partly cloudy skies with some impending afternoon showers and thunderstorms might just make your day a bit adventurous.
Savusavu: Cloudy periods and showers are in store, so hold onto your hats – or umbrellas – the thunderstorm is coming!
Lau/Lomaiviti: Another area to experience occasional showers and those notorious isolated thunderstorms, with a chance for some hefty rain.
Kadavu: You guessed it – occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms will be your companions.
And for Rotuma: A trough of low pressure is shaking things up; occasional showers and some thunderstorms will linger until they decide to move along.
Looking ahead to Wednesday, expect a similar situation with cloudy periods and scattered showers, along with isolated thunderstorms and those elusive heavy falls.
So grab your umbrellas, sunglasses, and maybe a pair of rain boots; it’s going to be quite the week! Stay safe and dry, everyone!
