Severe Weather Alert: Heavy Showers and Thunderstorms Expected Across Fiji This Weekend

Weather Update

Greetings, weather enthusiasts! Hold onto your umbrellas and maybe even your raincoats, because we have a weather situation as interesting as a soap opera plot twist. Currently, a low-pressure trough is lounging around Fiji like a cat on a sunbeam, bringing along its entourage of clouds and showers. Looks like it’s planning to enhance those lovely northeasterly winds – and we all know what that means: a breezy day, perfect for kite flying or, let’s be honest, a little battle with your laundry if it decides to take a wild ride.

Now, what to expect before midnight tomorrow across our beautiful Fiji group: Get ready for some occasional showers that might flirt with you, a few isolated thunderstorms, and heavy rain – especially in the eastern and interior parts of Viti Levu, Yasawa, Mamanuca, and other lovely locales. For those in flood-prone areas, make sure your rubber boots are on standby—nobody wants to paddle to work!

Overall, the forecast calls for moderate to fresh northeasterly winds. The seas might be a bit angry at times, so if you were planning to venture out on a boat, maybe think again unless you enjoy a little adventure with some rocking waves.

Now, let’s dive into the specifics:

For Navua, Suva, and Nausori, brace yourselves for some occasional showers and those cheeky thunderstorms. Expect the same love on Monday!

In Sigatoka and the Coral Coast, you’ll have cloudy periods with a chance of showers. Don’t be surprised if those thunderstorms show up uninvited in the afternoon or evening.

Over in Nadi, Lautoka, Ba, and Tavua/Rakiraki, it’s going to be the same cloudy affair with showers. It seems like thunderstorms are quite the social butterflies lately, making appearances anywhere they can.

For Natadradave and Korovou, shower party continues with occasional thunderstorms. Yep, Monday will bring more of the same.

The Yasawa and Mamanuca group aren’t getting a break either; expect cloudy periods with showers and the usual thunderstorm guests.

Labasa will also have its fair share of cloudy days with isolated thunderstorms popping up just in time for your afternoon coffee.

Savusavu, Lau/Lomaiviti, and Kadavu: it’s all occasional showers with some thunder mixed in—stay cozy and don’t forget to look out for those heavy falls.

And last but certainly not least, in Rotuma, the low-pressure trough seems to be settling in for a lengthy visit. Expect occasional rain, heavy at times, accompanied by a few squally thunderstorms. And don’t forget those rough seas if you’re planning to take a little trip because the ocean might be a bit feisty.

Stay dry and keep those smiles bright, everyone!
