Weather Update

So, it looks like a weak little trough of low pressure is having a leisurely time lounging over the eastern parts of our beautiful country. What does that mean for us? Well, pack an umbrella because showers are on the agenda for the next few days like they’re the headliners at a concert!

Forecast to midnight tomorrow for the Fiji group: Expect plenty of cloudy skies with showers shadowing places like Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu, Naitasiri, and Ra, along with southern Bua, Cakaudrove, Kadavu, and their island buddies. The Lau and Lomaiviti groups are also in for some splashy weather. Get ready for showers to become more frequent and possibly heavier, accompanied by the occasional bang of thunder starting tomorrow – it’ll be like Mother Nature’s very own fireworks show!

On the bright side, most other regions will be fine and dandy, apart from the classic afternoon or evening shower drama. If you’re in Viti Levu or Vanua Levu, just know that an afternoon or evening thunderstorm is in the cards, bringing heavy downpours that may leave low-lying areas feeling a bit more acquainted with water than they’d prefer.

Winds are going to be moderate, blowing from the east to southeast, and the seas are looking moderate to rocky – so if you’re planning on a boat trip, maybe secure your hats!

Looking ahead to Friday: We’re expecting occasional showers and perhaps a ‘surprise’ thunderstorm or two, particularly over the eastern half of Viti Levu and our lovely island groups. In other parts, don’t forget to keep your raincoats handy as some afternoon showers and thunderstorms will be making their way to you too, promising a heavy entrance!

For Navua / Suva / Nausori: Expect more cloudy periods and some showers, plus those dramatic afternoon or evening thunderstorms that might very well take the stage soon. The heavy showers will give you a proper soaking starting tomorrow.

For Nadi / Lautoka / Ba: The forecast is as fine as a sunny day, except for those pesky afternoon or evening showers making a guest appearance, accompanied by thunderstorms that should bring a dramatic flair to your evening plans.

For Sigatoka / Coral Coast: The fine weather is here for now, but don’t get too comfortable – those afternoon or evening showers will come knocking, ready to check the weather for heavy falls.

For Tavua/Rakiraki: Enjoy the fine weather while you can! Expect those afternoon showers and thunderstorms to roll in soon.

For Yasawa/Mamanuca group: A sunny welcome, but it looks like those thunderstorms will crash the party later in the day, so enjoy the calm before the storm!

For Labasa: Looks chill, apart from those afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms bringing some extra rainfall action.

For Savusavu: Cloudy days ahead, with showers and thunderstorms joining the fun. The showers will step up their game from tomorrow, so hold onto your rain gear!

For Lau / Lomaiviti: Expect a mix of clouds and showers, with thunderstorms making an enthusiastic debut tomorrow.

For Kadavu: Same story, with clouds and showers coming to play sooner rather than later!

And for those on Rotuma: A breezy day awaits, with brief showers before they ramp things up tomorrow with more frequent rain and thunderstorms.

Outlook for Friday across all areas suggests you’ll need your umbrellas handy for occasional showers and potential thunderstorms. It’s shaping up to be a rainy sort of day, so prepare your best splash zone gear!
