Weather Update!
Issued by the National Weather Forecasting Centre Nadi at 10:45 am, Sunday, March 2nd, 2025.
Hold on to your umbrellas, folks! A heavy rain warning is still in effect for the oceanic beauty spots of Western, Northern, and interior Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, as well as the Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, Kadavu, and the nearby small islands. It’s like the clouds had a party and forgot to invite the sunshine! The rest of Fiji is on alert for heavy rains too—so, don’t pack away those raincoats just yet!
What’s cooking in the weather kitchen? An active trough of low pressure is causing some unusual shenanigans with clouds and rain. The northwest winds are having a blast and are expected to spread this soggy situation eastward across the islands until Tuesday. So, grab your water shoes; we might have some puddle-jumping ahead!
The forecast until midnight tomorrow looks like this: Occasional rain making a grand entrance, and at times, it’ll be heavy—like the clouds are trying to show off. Watch out for potentially rowdy thunderstorms over spots like Greater Nadi, Lautoka, Ba, Tavua, and beyond. With all this rain, we might just create a swimming pool in your backyard. Flash flooding in low-lying areas is possible, so keep your floaties handy. Rain should lighten up from the west later today; the east will follow suit by Tuesday. A little wind will keep things exciting— gusty in those areas where it’s pouring. The seas will be moderately rough, so brace yourselves if you’re heading out!
For the rest of the Fiji group: Expect some occasional rain, with a few thunderstorms wanting to join the mix. Isolated heavy falls are likely, especially in the afternoons and evenings—basically, just another day in paradise that may require some creative planning around outdoor activities. The rains will be ramping up tomorrow, so stay tuned!
Looking ahead to Tuesday: Rain will stick around, with some heavy bursts making surprise appearances. So, if you’re developing a flair for rain choreography, this will be your chance to shine!
For specific regions:
Navua/Suva/Nausori: Expect periodic rain and the odd thunderstorm. The rain will get a little more frequent starting tomorrow—maybe the clouds are starting to feel a bit more social.
Nadi/Lautoka/Ba: The same story here, with intermittent rain and an occasional thunderous performance scheduled.
Sigatoka/Coral Coast: Rain and storms may become your new best friends this week. Have your rain-loving attire ready!
Tavua/Rakiraki: You guessed it—rain and thunderstorms will be around to keep things interesting.
Yasawa/Mamanuca: Keep those umbrellas close by; rain will be making frequent showings along with thunderstorms.
Labasa: Be prepared for some rainy drama with occasional heavy downpours.
Savusavu: Similar vibes with rain and storms, oh my! It’s like a weather soap opera!
Lau/Lomaiviti: Alternating between rain and thunder, you might want to catch the latest weather news in between the raindrops.
Kadavu: Prepare for rain and occasional thunderstorms giving their performance.
Finally, on Rotuma: The north winds are keeping things moist, so we’ve got a little sunshine mixed with brief showers. Just enough to keep your adventures interesting with a sprinkle here and there.
So, pack your umbrellas, wear your most waterproof shoes, and prepare for some fun! Just remember—every good storm brings a rainbow, so hang in there, Fiji!
